Sudbury MPP and NDP Labour critic Jamie West is pushing to have June 1 officially recognized as Ontario's Injured Workers Day. West will be introducing his Private Member's Bill, Bill 118, the Injured Workers Day Act, in the Ontario legislature. West said the bill will be debated on Thursday, May 30. His hope is that June 1 of every year will be formally recognized as Injured Workers Day.
Supporters and worker advocates are also behind the initiative, and stood with West on Friday May 24 when he announced plans to submit a private members bill to have the date declared officially in Ontario....
